Level 3+ Fall FTX 


83 Juno Beach will be conducting a Field Training Exercise for Level 3s and up to learn and practice some basic aircrew survival skills. Sign up is required. Only those that are in Level 3+ that have signed up will be able to attend. 

When

  • Fri, Oct 31 - DROP OFF at LHQ: 1700 (5 pm)

    • Only those cadets who have provided notice will be permitted to arrive on Saturday, Nov 1 with parental drop off at RMCTC for 8 am. See list below. 

  • Sat, Nov 2 - PICK UP at LHQ: 1630 (4:30 pm) 

  • LHQ = Local Headquarters, Shepard Community Hall, 10800 84 St SE, Calgary, AB T3S 0A4

Cadets must arrive at the Shepard Community Centre by 1700 (5:00PM) on Friday 31 October 2025 for kit check and equipment loading. 

Buses will depart immediately after kit check and loading and will not wait for any cadets. 

Cadets will return to the Shepard Community Centre for parental pick up by 1630 (4:30 PM) on Sunday 02 November 25. Parents – please arrive on time for pick up and ensure you are registered to receive notifications on Stack Team App to receive live notifications on any delays. 

Transport

Cadets will be transported to RMCTC by yellow school buses. 

Where

The Field Training Exercise will be held at Rocky Mountain Cadet Training Centre Bighorn No. 8, AB T4C 1B8. Cadets will be sleeping in cabins, and training will be conducted both indoors and outdoors.

What

A kit list is attached. Kit will be inspected prior to departure to ensure that each cadet has the required equipment and clothing.

Meals

CADETS MUST EAT PRIOR TO ARRIVING TO LHQ ON FRI, OCT 31. We will not be eating dinner when we arrive at RMCTC. Cadets will be provided with military Meals Ready to Eat throughout the activity.  

Medications 

All medications will be provided to CI Davis upon arrival to LHQ and logged. If cadets have emergency medication (inhaler, epipen etc…) they are to keep it with their belongings. All other medications will be handed in to the First Aid Officer.

The following items are required for participation in the Field Training Exercise (FTX). A kit check will be performed prior to departure to the training site. Failure to possess any of the following items may exclude cadets from participation in this activity. This list is a minimum. All cadets are responsible for their own gear; any lost or stolen items are the sole responsibility of the cadet. Cadets are recommended to label all of their items with their name. 


REQUIRED ITEMS: 

  • x1 set Field Training Uniform (FTU) tunic and pants (if issued) 

  • x1 pair of issued FTU boots

  • x1 pair insulated winter boots

  • x1 cadet two-piece parka and liner (if issued), or civilian winter jacket 

  • x1 insulated winter pants

  • x1 Beret (if issued)

  • x1 toque

  • x3 pair gloves or mittens

  • x2 shirts (blue issued t-shirt and long-sleeve shirt) 

  • x5 pairs socks

  • x5 pairs undergarments

  • x1 set of thermal under layers

  • x1 set of sleepwear

  • x1 sweater or hoodie

  • x1 pair pants

  • x1 brimmed hat (tilley, ball cap)

  • Toiletries kit (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hygiene products)

  • x1 washcloth

  • x1 pillow

  • x1 sleeping bag

  • Notebook

  • Pencils

  • Backpack

  • Flashlight (and batteries if applicable) 

  • x1 refillable water bottle

  • mug, and

  • any prescribed medications (if applicable). 


PROHIBITED ITEMS: 

  • Knives 

  • Illegal substances (ie. alcohol, tobacco, drugs); 

  • Matches, lighters, or other fire starters; 

  • Inappropriate materials, and/or; 

  • Bear spray, pepper spray (ie. mace).

Battle of Britain Parade

Event: To remember the fallen from the Battle of Britain, Calgary area Squadrons’ Senior Cadets will be participating in a Area Directed Activity on Sep 21, 2025 at the Military Museum. It will include touring around the museum, participating in the Battle of Britain Parade, and getting to work with senior cadets from across the area. This will count as CAF Engagement event or Formal Parade event for the cadet qualifications.

Who: Cadets who have completed level 4 training only (level 5 cadets) (exception for Mass Band who will only be part of the ceremony in the afternoon. Band cadets of any level, feel free to sign up)

Event Date: September 21, 2025

Event Time: 0930 – 1530

Order of Dress: C1 – Cadets, No1A – Military Members, Business Attire – Civilians

Location: The Military Museums 4520 Crowchild Trail SW, Calgary AB T2T 5J4

Parking and Drop-off/Pick-up Area: Use the parking lot at Master’s Academy located directly north of TMM (at the back of the building) due to another event needing the south parking lot.

Lunch: Provided

Bring: Water bottle, Appropriate outerwear as we will be conducting the ceremony outdoors (sunscreen, toque, parka, etc pending weather).

WELCOME BACK - REGISTRATION FOR 2025/2026 CADET YEAR

WELCOME BACK!

It’s that exciting time of the year again, 83 Juno Beach! Our first night back is on Tuesday, September 2 for Registration and Validation night. There will be a dedicated uniform night for exchanges later in September.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR TUES, SEPT 2 – VALIDATION NIGHT

What is registration and validation night? It’s a dedicated night to complete all administrative tasks and signing mandatory forms. All returning and new cadets are required to fill out forms with a parent/guardian present. No forms are permitted to be sent home.

TIME: Doors open at 1900hrs and closed at 2100hrs

Cadets are asked to arrive at LHQ (Sheperd Community Hall) after 1900 hrs. You are not required to be there for the entire night. Once your forms are complete, you are free to go. Please be prepared to wait for your turn as we process each cadet. Your patience is appreciated. We have tried staggered times in the past and find this is a more efficient process for us to complete a large volume of administrative tasks.

LOCATION: LHQ – Sheperd Community Hall 10800 84 St SE, Calgary, AB T3S 0A5

DRESS: Civilian Clothing (Only Seniors are to be in FTUs)

RETURNING CADETS: Parent/Guardian and cadet must be present
• Complete annual validation forms, ensure all information is up to date and correct.
• Complete DHQ (Detailed Health Questionnaire) if required
• Parent/Guardian and Cadet Sign Code of Conduct

NEW CADETS: Parent/Guardian and cadet must be present
• Bring Government Issued ID and Alberta Health Care Card (originals or originals with photocopy)
• Double check application OR fill out new cadet application
• Parent/Guardian and Cadet Sign Code of Conduct
• Get measured for uniforms

CADETS WHO ARE NOT RETURNING

If you are not returning to the program, please ensure you return your washed uniform parts on Sept 2 in a labelled bag with your first and last name.

We will NOT be issuing any uniform exchanges or new uniform parts on Sept 2. There will be a dedicated uniform night for exchanges later in September.
